「主婦之友」に紹介される
大正１３年、関東大震災の記念号に発表したいからというので、「主婦之友」社から、志村文蔵氏と婦人部の記者が来校しました。私の生い立ちから、東京での苦学の状況、現在の学校の内容などを、入念に調べていって、その９月号に掲載されました。これがきっかけとなって、次々に、各種の婦人雑誌の記事にもとりあげられるようになりました。[英訳を表示]
It was 1924(Taishō 13) when Mr. Bunzō Shimura and the reporter for the women’s department from Shufu No Tomo visited, wanting to spotlight our school in a memorial issue dedicated to the Great Kantō Earthquake of 1923(Taishō 12). They interviewed me and wanted to know details surrounding my birth, my paying my way through school in Tokyo, and the current state of school affairs. We were featured in the September 1924(Taishō 13) issue of Shufu No Tomo. Thereafter, our school became a regular topic in women’s magazines.
これが、得難い宣伝となりまして、全国各地から、入学生がやって参りました。そして、その人達が、本校師範科を卒業すると、それぞれ郷土にもどって職業婦人として活躍しますので、安城にあこがれる者は、いながらにして、増してゆくのです。その当時、夏休みに帰省する舎生に、土産として、郷里の絵葉書を、一組ずつ、持ってきてもらうように、頼みますと、その数が、２５組ほどもあって入学範囲の広いことを物語っておりました。[英訳を表示]
The articles drew new students from all over Japan to our school. The students, after their graduation from our school, began to play very important roles as career women in their hometowns. This was just another factor drawing increasing numbers of young women to an academic life in Anjo. Around that time, as a souvenir from their summer vacation at home, I asked each of the students in the dormitory to bring back two postcards. In total, we collected about twenty-five, and, with so many it showed that we had enrolled many students from all over Japan.
